As we head into the third game of LSU football season, the Tigers are preparing for their matchup against the Missouri Tigers. Missouri joined the SEC in 2012 and only played LSU twice - first in 1978 and again in 2016. This is exciting because we get to see two teams play who hardly know one another.
Hurricane Delta update
There have been some slight changes though due to Hurricane Delta, which is supposed to make landfall in Louisiana on Friday evening. Instead of playing at its stadium in Baton Rouge, the LSU is headed to Missouri’s Faurot Field. Kickoff will now be at noon ET rather than at 9 p.m. ET. While there are a few new changes, the LSU football players still plan to defeat Missouri on Saturday.
What could affect LSU
Because LSU no longer has home field advantage, this could quite possibly affect their game. Without having the home team fans filling the stadium, this could change LSU’s ability to play better due to lack of energy. Hopefully, this will not alter things too much for LSU and it continues to play as hard as it can.
How LSU can win
LSU is now 1-1 after last week’s win against Vanderbilt. Once it plays Missouri this weekend, LSU should be 2-1 and on the road to another big season in the SEC. LSU is currently favored to win considering Missouri has not looked so good this year. Missouri is currently 0-2 this season and has struggled in the past, which should give LSU a good chance at its second win.
In just one game, LSU has gotten progressively better than the previous one. If it keeps this up, it will have a great game against Missouri. If Myles Brennan starts this game the same way he did last week, LSU is certain to dominate. He started the game by completing 8 of 11 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. This early lead allowed LSU to take control of the game and let Brennan find his comfort zone which led to four passing touchdowns. If LSU gains an early lead then winning should come easy.
Two wide receivers that can really help LSU this week are Terrance Marshall Jr. and Jontre Kirklin. Marshall Jr. caught two touchdowns last week and has been a notable player for quite some time now. Kirklin made a breakout performance last weekend against Vanderbilt when he gained 65 receiving yards and scored his first two collegiate touchdowns. Young wide receivers like Kirklin are why this LSU program stays a very competitive team that has so much to bring to the table for each and every position. If Kirklin keeps this up, he will become one of Brennan’s top targets down field and in the red zone.
When it is all said and done, the LSU football has so much talent and is capable of playing their hearts out which will undoubtedly lead them to success in the end.
