Oklahoma basketball comes up short

After a huge win against the Missouri Tigers, Lon Kruger and the Oklahoma Sooners fell short to the Gonzaga Bulldogs 87-71 on Monday, March 22. Oklahoma defeating Missouri without its second best player in De'Vion Harmon was already impressive especially after the season the Sooners have had. Gonzaga is the best team in college basketball, and Kruger's team made them work for the win. Oklahoma lost by 16 as it just could not keep up with the Bulldogs' speed and talent. Gonzaga had four different players score over 10 points with Drew Timme leading all scorers with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Austin Reaves led the Sooners with 27 points followed by a great performance from Alondes Williams with 15 points. Oklahoma

Texas basketball vs. Abilene Christian NCAA Tournament preview

Texas basketball will play Abilene Christian on Saturday, March 20 in a first round matchup for the NCAA Tournament. Texas has a good chance to win today and advance to the second round. Let’s break down both squads. Texas offense The Longhorns won the Big 12 Tournament and received an automatic bid to participate in the NCAA Tournament. This offense is consistent for the most part, and the offense is the reason the Longhorns won the Big 12 Tournament. Andrew Jones, Courtney Ramey and Matt Coleman III have to be the primary contributors on offense. When they aren’t, the Longhorns struggle and sometimes even lose the game. Having multiple scorers like this proves Texas is a dangerous team. It just needs to

Big East basketball: Georgetown takes the title

For the first time since 2007, the Georgetown Hoyas are the champions of Big East basketball. The No. 8 Hoyas crushed the No. 2 Creighton Bluejays 73-48 to punch their first ticket to the dance since 2015. Creighton got off to a quick start, taking a 4-0 lead and building it to 13-6. The Hoyas responded with a scoring run of their own, going 7-0 to tie the game at 13. After the Bluejays tied the game at 18, they didn’t score again for the rest of the half. Georgetown senior guard Jahvon Blair went on a one-man 8-0 run, putting the Hoyas up 26-18 before the final media timeout. In the final six minutes before the break, Creighton missed 11

2021 NFL Draft: Interior Offensive Linemen

Last time around we talked interior defensive line and now we get to the men on the other side of the ball. The average over the past five years is for about 20 interior offensive linemen to be drafted, and it looks like we could meet or exceed that number this year with a strong group overall. This class is filled with usual suspects from the likes of Alabama, Notre Dame and Oklahoma, yet also features some small-school guys with high upside like David Moore from Grambling. Overall, this class could prove to be one of the better interior offensive line classes in recent years. Interior Offensive Linemen Big Board 1) Alijah Vera-Tucker – USC 2) Creed Humphrey – Oklahoma 3) Wyatt Davis –

2021 NFL Draft: Interior Defensive Line Big Board

One of the weaker groups in the 2021 class, the interior defensive line class is filled with a bunch of prospects who can do one or two things exceptionally well, but also struggle in some areas. Guys like Marvin Wilson and Jaylen Twyman were receiving a lot of praise coming into the 2020 season but unfortunately were unable to build on the early hype. Others such as Daviyon Nixon and Cameron Sample have gone from relatively unknown prospects to guys that will likely hear their names called in the top 100 this year. Scheme will be crucial in deciding which players come off the board early in this class. Interior Defensive Line Big Board 1) Christian Barmore – Alabama 2) Tommy Togiai –

Texas basketball vs. Oklahoma State Big 12 Championship preview

Texas basketball will match up against Oklahoma State on Saturday, March 13 in the championship game for the Big 12 tournament. The Longhorns automatically advanced due to the previous game being ruled as uncontested, while Oklahoma State pulled off a huge upset against Baylor to get here. Let’s break down these squads in a matchup, which guarantees the winner gets a spot in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Texas offense The Longhorns have their work cut out for them. Despite Oklahoma State being ranked lower than Baylor, they were able to beat Texas in the last matchup, which required double overtime to determine a winner. The Longhorns did end up splitting the season series with the Cowboys, but that was earlier in the

Nevada basketball ends season with hard-fought effort vs. San Diego State

While Nevada basketball played hard throughout the Mountain West Tournament semifinals against San Diego State, the Aztecs' experience ultimately earned them the win. While this is the end of the season for Nevada, it has shown very much improvement as a young team and clearly has talent that will stay for a couple years to come. The first half of the game was very up and down for the Wolf Pack at one point being down 12 points only to tie the game toward the end of the half. Although Nevada was playing patiently and methodically on defense, the Aztecs have quite a few players that are big threats on offense. This forced the Wolf Pack to over (or under) rotate,

Big East basketball: Semifinal rounds

The Big East basketball conference tournament is one step closer to crowning a champion. On Friday, the No. 8 Georgetown Hoyas and No. 2 Creighton Bluejays won their semifinal games over the No. 5 Seton Hall Pirates and No. 3 UConn Huskies respectively. Georgetown beat Seton Hall in a 66-58 victory, securing the Hoyas’ first berth to a Big East Tournament final in over a decade. The Hoyas got off to a quick start, using a 7-0 scoring run to lead by nine points midway through the first half. Seton Hall wouldn’t give up that easily though, using a 13-4 scoring run of its own to cut Georgetown’s lead to just two points going into the break. For much of the second half,

DePaul basketball season ends in blowout loss

The DePaul basketball season came to an end Thursday night as the 11th-seeded Demons lost their quarterfinal matchup to the third-seeded UConn Huskies 94-60. The Blue Demons finished this season last in the Big East with a conference record of 2-13 and an overall record of 5-14. Coming off an unexpected win against the Providence Friars on Wednesday night, DePaul lost its competitive edge and defensive power against the Huskies. Charlie Moore and Javon Freeman-Liberty lit up the scoreboard Wednesday night, but that offensive flash was nowhere to be found. Moore scored 21 points against Providence but was held to just eight points on 3-for-9 shooting. Freeman-Liberty kept up his offensive efforts for the most part, adding 19 points for the Blue Demons,

Nevada basketball hurdles first obstacle in Mountain West quarterfinals

Fifth-seeded Nevada basketball defeated the fourth-seeded Boise State Broncos to advance to the Mountain West Championship semifinals. Despite the age and overall height difference between the two teams, Nevada managed to beat the Broncos in all three meetings this season. Unfortunately for the Broncos, this was the end of their 2020-21 season. Although there were a few close calls caused by errors on passing and transition offense, the Wolf Pack seemed to be outplaying Boise State at every turn both on offense and defense from beginning to end. Nevada dominated for most of the first half with aggressive defense and a high three-point percentage at 69.2% (9-13). The Broncos seemed a little slow to get going in the first five minutes
