College football gambling picks: Week 3

We did not put out a college football gambling article last week, but make sure you’re always following me on Twitter to make sure you’re getting my professional gambling picks. You read that right. I am now being paid to write about sports betting and fantasy sports on a new website called DraftKings Nation.

Now that I’m officially an expert and smarter than all of you, you can expect perfection from here on out. Having said that, mistakes were made in week 2 of the college football season as we went 7-9, putting our season total at 16-13. Gotta be better. Will be better.

It all starts Friday night.

North Carolina +3.5 @ Wake Forest

Mack is back, folks. Through two games of the Mack Brown return, North Carolina has as many wins as it did last season and both came against Power 5 teams that are not awful. Wake Forest is also a Power 5 team that is not awful. Handing the Tar Heels 3.5 points is a mistake because they’re winning this game to get to 3-0. Respect the elderly and bet on Mack Brown.

Washington State/Houston OVER 75.5

Houston overs are my jam. Mike Leach is anti-run the ball and wild man Dana Holgorsen will be ready for the challenge. Nobody is stopping anybody in this game. Punting be damned. Washington State scored 58 and 59 points this season. Houston has the offense to keep up and the defense to give up more. Both teams are hitting 40.

NC State -7 @ West Virginia

Either the public is dumb enough to keep betting on West Virginia or oddsmakers have yet to adjust what this Mountaineers team is. It’s bad. This is a bad football team that is undergoing a massive rebuild. Dana Holgorsen left for a Group of 5 school for a reason. Keep fading West Virginia until further notice. Wolfpack win by three touchdowns.

Kansas State/Mississippi State UNDER 52

Kansas State scored 52 and 49 points in two games this year. Fifty-two came against Bowling Green and Brian VanGorder, who continues to prove he is the worst defensive coordinator in the sport. The 49 points came against Nicholls. Back to reality with Kansas State football when it heads to Starkville. Both teams keep it on the ground in this one, and Mississippi State wins 24-14 to hit the under with ease.

Arizona State +14.5 @ Michigan State

Michigan State wins this game, but what in the world makes anybody think the Spartans win by more than two touchdowns? Here are the amount of points Michigan State has scored in its last four games against Power 5 teams: 6, 14, 6, 6. These were also against pretty bad defenses with Ohio State, Nebraska, Rutgers and Oregon. Nothing points to a dominant win for Michigan State on Saturday. These two teams played each other last year, and Arizona State won 16-13. Take the Sun Devils and the points.

Florida/Kentucky UNDER 50

Kentucky grad-transfer quarterback Sawyer Smith’s last start came as a member of the Troy Trojans last season, and Florida is rolling out Feleipe Franks. This combination of quarterbacks equals a guaranteed under play. Don’t even need to know what the number is. Well it’s 50, and neither team gets to 24 in this one.

Virginia -7 vs. Florida State

Virginia is good. Florida State is bad. Virginia is at home. Florida State is not. Virginia covers spreads. Florida State does not. There is no reason the Seminoles could be the chosen team in this game. After a 4-8 year in 2018, we had to expect an improvement but it’s not happening. After blowing a huge lead against Boise State, Florida State responded by winning on a missed extra point against Louisiana-Monroe. Awful. The Seminoles are 1-6 against the spread in their last 7, while Virginia is 4-1 in its last 5. Double-digit win coming from the Wahoos.

TCU -2 @ Purdue

I believe Rondale Moore a top 5 college football player. I believe Gary Patterson is an elite college football coach, and the coach stops the player in this game. TCU had a strange week 2 bye to figure out how to stop Purdue’s most dangerous weapon, and the Horned Frogs will get it done and beat Purdue by a touchdown.

Oklahoma -22 @ UCLA

Close your eyes and picture UCLA covering against Oklahoma. The thought of it just feels dirty. You cannot go to bed at night happy with your life decisions if you make the decision to back the Bruins here. No research is needed. Lincoln Riley creates Heisman quarterbacks, and Chip Kelly experiment is showing no signs of working. Have some respect for yourself and take the Sooners big.

Texas Tech/Arizona OVER 74.5

Arizona put up 65 points last week, which is pretty impressive against FCS team Northern Arizona, but you know what’s more impressive? Giving up 41 points to Northern Arizona. FORTY-ONE! After giving up 45 to Hawaii. And it’s Texas Tech. Of course points will be scored. Over. Over. Over.

Parlay party

I will forever hate Washington for not beating California last weekend in a game that forced me to stay up till 3:30 a.m. It was the final leg of a 10-team moneyline parlay, but it’s no time to give up on the parlay game.

These 7 teams are all favored by at least three scores and will be victorious. Take ’em all to win and be glad you made these decisions.

Cincinnati, Ohio State, Penn State, Army, Minnesota, SMU, San Diego State.
