Crash the Board: College basketball betting 2/13/20

Do you have an ongoing gambling addiction? Do you break things after a backdoor cover goes against you? Do you become slightly aroused when it does go your way? Of course you do, and we already have so much in common. Crash the Board is a daily preview of the college basketball betting slate with a payday bet in each article.

Welcome to another edition of Crash the Board, our daily look at the day’s biggest college basketball games from a sports betting perspective. It’s a short slate of top-25 games, but let’s get into it before we give it our best effort to make you some money.

#16 Colorado @ #17 Oregon

Game time: 8:00 CST
TV: ESPN
Spread: Oregon -4.5
Over/Under: 135.5

Yesterday we had the complete disaster of a situation of Kansas and West Virginia being played on ESPN+, and I thought for sure we were going to be dealing with a Pac-12 Network situation for the biggest game of the night. I remain convinced the Pac-12 Network does not exist because I haven’t seen it, you haven’t seen it and you don’t know anybody who has either. Thankfully, the battle for the top spot in the Pac-12 is on ESPN for the conference to show the rest of the world its beauty.

If you Google “suck” you’ll find Oregon basketball because holy hell have they not been good in February with 10-point losses against Oregon State and Stanford. But those were on the road and the Ducks have not lost a home game all season long. Oregon is 2-7 against the spread in its last 9. Oregon hit the over in its past 5 games, while Colorado unders hit in 7 of their last 8 road games.

SOMETHING MUST GIVE.

Thursday Payday

We’ve got to get one of these right eventually, don’t we? Yes, we’ve gone 0-2 in our payday picks in the brief history of Crash the Board. Yes, neither of them were all that close. Purdue and Louisville, you’re on my list. We’re getting into the win column with Indiana -2 vs. Iowa.

First of all, the Hoosiers lost to Purdue on Saturday during the return of the great Bob Knight against the same opponent on the same court as the time Bobby tossed a chair onto the court. A major slap in the face to him and his legacy to perform like that. Speaking of a slap in the face, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bob Knight did such a thing to the Indiana players on his slow stroll out of the building at halftime. Knight verbally and physically assaulted his players when he was the head coach. You know what they did? They went out and won championships.

If these players have any respect for Indiana basketball and what it stands for, they will come out and put a beatdown on Iowa at Assembly Hall on Thursday night. Complete motivation play, no stats needed. I’m not going to mention Iowa is 3-8 against the spread on the road this season. I will not get into the Hawkeyes giving up 104 points to Purdue last week, and I sure as hell don’t need to discuss Indiana covering the spread in 4 of the last 5 times they played Iowa.

I just won’t do it. So Indiana, play for your school, play for your state, play for your country and for the love of God play for the Deceptive Speed bank account because we desperately need a winner.
