Clemson football: Tigers have momentum heading into the playoffs
Admittedly, I felt shaky about Clemson’s chances of launching a deep playoff run after its suspect win over Virginia Tech. All of that doubt was eviscerated on Saturday during the team’s dominant 34-10 win over Notre Dame in the ACC Championship Game. With a healthy roster, Clemson football steamrolled Ian Book’s Fighting Irish, and the Ohio State Buckeyes are next. Everyone knew Clemson had a guaranteed spot in the top four entering Selection Sunday. The College Football Playoff Selection Committee granting Dabo Swinney’s team the No. 2 rank heading into the semifinals didn’t surprise anyone. The Tigers enter the postseason as the only team in the top four to win their conference championship by more than two scores. Ohio
Clemson Football: Key players for defeating Notre Dame
On Nov. 7, Clemson football suffered its only loss of the season in a double-overtime game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Ian Book planted his flag as one of the ACC’s best quarterbacks while Kyren Williams announced his arrival on national television against the country’s top team. However, the Tigers have Trevor Lawrence back in the fold and can’t wait to get another shot at Brian Kelly’s Fighting Irish. Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers need to win the upcoming ACC Championship Game. Without the conference title, Clemson won’t make the College Football Playoff. Notre Dame could lose and still get in, but winning the title would cement its spot as a top-two team in the nation. It’s a do

Clemson football: Tigers look rusty heading into ACC title
Clemson football clinched its spot in the ACC Championship Game with a 45-10 win over Virginia Tech last Saturday. However, it was far from a flawless performance by the defending conference champions. The Tigers need to get their act together before facing off against the undefeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Dec. 19 in a battle for a Playoff bid. While Dabo Swinney’s team demolished the Virginia Tech Hokies by 35 points, it was a seven-point game at halftime. Clemson finally pushed the floodgates open in the second half, but the offense wasn’t dominating Virginia Tech’s vulnerable defense. Likewise, Clemson’s defense gave the Hokies too many chunk plays. Virginia Tech actually finished the game with more passing yards than Clemson and

Clemson football: Goals ahead of final regular season game
Clemson football will finish its regular season this weekend, wrapping up its ninth divisional game of the year against Virginia Tech. A rescheduling of the Florida State game is off the table after a recent schedule change made by the ACC, but Clemson didn’t plan on traveling down to Florida again anyway. With the season almost over, Clemson is running out of time to make improvements. The ACC recently announced several scheduling adjustments that allowed the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to clinch a spot in the conference championship. Even if Brian Kelly’s team loses to Syracuse, it will still make the ACC Championship Game. Meanwhile, Clemson needs a win to secure its bid or a Miami loss in either of the
Clemson Football places 3rd in initial College Football Playoff rankings
Clemson football holds the No. 3 spot in this year’s first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings. At 7-1, Dabo Swinney’s team only trails the 7-0 Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 1) and 8-0 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (No. 2). However, there’s a chance that Clemson moves at least into the No. 2 spot before the College Football Playoff begins. Clemson’s only loss came several weeks ago in a double-overtime contest against Ian Book and the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame prevailed 47-40, but a rematch looms on the horizon. Assuming the Tigers take care of Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech and Notre Dame loses fewer than two of its final three games, the two ACC powerhouses will square off in the ACC
ACC Rewind: Clemson and Notre Dame dominate CFB Playoff rankings

Clemson football: Trevor Lawrence faces legacy questions
Trevor Lawrence is one of the most talented college quarterbacks from the past decade, and he’s guided the Clemson football to consecutive national championship appearances. However, the unspoken promise of delivering a second title to Death Valley weighs heavily on the junior as he prepares for possibly the final few games of his collegiate career. If Clemson fails to win its fourth championship this year and Lawrence leaves for the NFL, what will his lasting legacy be for the Tigers? Before answering that question, I should clarify that Lawrence has already accomplished more than most quarterbacks do at any level. However, the expectations for someone as talented as Lawrence sometimes reach incredible proportions. The shadow of Deshaun Watson also looms large
