Bracketology Update: January 29, 2021

New Bracketology will be coming whenever I can get numbers inputted. I will be trying my best to update scores at the end of each night. That will at least give me my totals for adjusted winning percentage. It’s a formula where road wins are greater than neutral wins which are greater than home wins. And home losses hurt more than neutral losses which hurt more than road losses.

Usually Friday afternoons are good for putting out a new Bracketology, but there are a few important games on. Illinois and Iowa is certainly the headliner. It would be difficult for the Illini to jump a line with a win. Any 5 seed could jump a line if Illinois loses, but that would be splitting hairs. Iowa isn’t going anywhere. No way the Hawkeyes get a 1 seed with a win and Texas would be the only team I would move from three to two if the Hawkeyes lose.

Richmond and Saint Louis got postponed. Which actually really sucks. Billikens just got off a huge delay and lost to Dayton. Spiders need quality wins fast. The rematch of Colorado State and Boise State is going to be wonderful. Not sure who needs to win for the Mountain West to stay on track for four bids but it’s exciting.

UC Irvine plays at midnight Eastern. Cleveland State has to continue to keep pace in the Horizon with a showdown against Green Bay. Texas State, the new team from the Sun Belt plays Louisiana. New Mexico State gets to play its second game in 2021, and it really needs to prove itself as the WAC auto-bid tonight vs. Grand Canyon. North Alabama can continue its reign in the A-Sun against North Florida. Winthrop is putting its undefeated record on the line against UNC Asheville. South Dakota State needs a win over Denver to keep pace in the Summit.

Saturday is another loaded college basketball day. Just pull up an app, turn the games on, follow along to those you can’t get on TV and tune into Twitter for my updates.

Before anyone asks, Michigan State is no longer in the field.

As always check us out on the Bracket Matrix.
