Juwon Gaston recruiting: Decision day for 3-star safety

Update: Juwon Gaston announced on Wednesday he will play college football at Auburn.

A significant number of college football recruits for the class of 2021 signed their national letters of intent in the Early Signing Period in December, but there are plenty of talented prospects announcing their decision on National Signing Day including safety Juwon Gaston. Players in the 2021 class can sign on National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 3 and can do so anytime before the Aug. 1 deadline.

Let’s get to know a little more about Gaston and where he might end up. He is expected to make his decision on Wednesday.

Juwon Gaston Recruiting bio

He is ranked 623rd nationally in the composite and is the 49th-highest ranked safety and No. 24 prospect from the state of Alabama. He is 5-foot-11 and 187 pounds.

Offer list

Gaston’s FBS scholarship offer list is relatively short but features highly competitive teams in the SEC. According to 247Sports, the list includes Auburn, Charlotte, South Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Top schools

Gaston put out his top three schools on Jan. 13, and it included South Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee. However, it should be noted this was before he was offered by Auburn.

Highlights

Where’s he headed?

New Auburn Tigers head coach Bryan Harsin appears to have landed Juwon Gaston, according to 247Sports, and Rivals is predicting the same. Auburn got in on him late, but it appears to be enough as he is likely to be joining the Tigers’ secondary.

Going through a head coaching change is always interesting for a recruiting class, and Auburn is hurt in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings by only having 14 commits in the class of 2021, placing the Tigers at No. 38 in the country, which is 12th in the SEC.
