Greetings readers, I’m student journalist Zach Batia, responsible for covering Florida Gators football this fall at Deceptive Speed. Born and raised just outside of Chicago, I’m now a senior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities studying journalism and psychology.
I’ve done a fair bit of data based reporting, doing stories ranging from the effectiveness of campus police here in Minneapolis to why I don’t think Tom Brady is a good fit on the Buccaneers this season. I’m a passionate sports fan with encyclopedic knowledge of hockey in particular.
I wanted to cover the Gators this season because I saw a young team with the ability to compete against the heavyweights of the SEC and the potential to contend for the national title, with an exciting coach, quarterback, and playmakers on both sides of the ball. Watching this team is going to be a blast this year, and I hope to provide quality coverage of the action.
