LSU football loses to Texas A&M

Unfortunately, LSU football was unable to bring back another win against Texas A&M this season. After last year’s big win against the Aggies, LSU fans were confident about this game, but the way they played on Saturday definitely showed they are no longer that championship-winning team.

With a low scoring game of 20-7, Texas A&M did not play all that well either. This was the lowest scoring game that LSU football has had in a very long time. Because both teams failed to put up a good fight, it was certainly a difficult game to watch.

How LSU played

LSU’s defense played a lot better than its offense did. It was able to slow down Kellen Mond and the rest of the Aggies’ offense. For the most part, the Tigers were able to put a stop on Texas A&M’s offense, only allowing it to score 20 points.

LSU even stopped Texas A&M from scoring completely in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers offense, on the other hand, did not have a good game. Quarterbacks Max Johnson and TJ Finley took turns playing throughout the game, but neither one of them played all that well.

In the second quarter, Finley threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, but it was later ruled incomplete.

After this attempt, LSU was unable to put any numbers on the scoreboard until the last 38 seconds of the fourth quarter thanks to Johnson. He threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Terrace Marshall Jr. for the final score of the game.

In a postgame interview, Coach Ed Orgeron expressed his disappointment.

“The offense was inconsistent all day,” Orgeron said. “They had a great plan on defense. We didn’t match the plan. We should’ve had a better plan on offense. We couldn’t run, we couldn’t protect. It’s not all the quarterbacks’ fault. They were running for their life, both of them were. Just got to look at the film and get a better plan.”

How Texas A&M played

Texas A&M had a decent game against LSU but did not play as well as it should have. Because the Aggies are ranked No. 5 in the country, it definitely comes as a surprise to see their offense did not play well.

Mond did not have his best game. In fact, it was probably the worst one of his season. Mond missed seven of his first nine passes and was 5 of 16 for 57 yards in the second quarter.

While their offense failed to show their talent, the Aggies defense came to play a good ball game against LSU’s offense. They were able to keep the Tigers out of the end zone for nearly the entire game.

Overall, neither of these teams had their best game, especially LSU. The Tigers have been quite a disappointment this season and if they want another championship season next year, they have a lot of work to do.

Next week, their matchup is now against Alabama Crimson Tide and to say that the odds are in LSU’s favor would be a lie.
