After nearly a seven weeks long postponement, LSU football is finally headed to the sunshine state to play the Florida Gators. It will be held at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
This game almost did not even happen due to COVID-19, therefore, it is exciting to see these two teams play. Last year, LSU defeated the Gators 42-28 so it has a chance at beating them again but both teams are different this year.
Evidently, the Tigers do not have the best record this year so it is going to be a tough matchup on Saturday as the Gators are currently 8-1.
How LSU can beat the Gators
Like every game they play this season, LSU is going to have to fight hard for this win. After last week’s game against Alabama, it proved to fans the Tigers have to play harder and learn to work together in order to try and gain another win under their belts.
If they do this, it is anticipated that they could beat Florida but they still have a lot more obstacles to jump through before the season.
As if it weren’t hard enough to have Myles Brennan out this season due to an injury, it just got more difficult that two players have opted out. Terrace Marshall Jr., and Arik Gilbert are very talented players, therefore, their absence will be missed.
LSU will need to play hard on both offense and defense if it wants a win. The Tigers defense has not looked so great all season, but they will need to fight hard to stop Florida’s offense from scoring, which will be difficult to do.
Offensively, the Tigers are going to need to score touchdowns and not settle for field goals. Max Johnson is expected to start at quarterback in place of TJ Finley, which can be troubling since it is his first time starting.
Next weekend, Florida and Alabama will be competing in the SEC Championship, which could quite possibly mean that Florida will be more focused on that game than the game against LSU. This can definitely give the Tigers an advantage and allow them to defeat the Gators.
How the Gators can beat LSU
The Gators have had a great season this year, and it would not be surprising if they were to beat LSU.
With a very talented offense and defense, if Florida wants to beat LSU, it will just have to continue to play as well as it has been all season.
One player that LSU will need to watch out for is tight end Kyle Pitts. He currently leads the country in receiving yards per game and scored 11 touchdowns since the start of the season. It is clear Pitts is unstoppable and it will be very hard for LSU to be the team to stop him.
One thing to be certain of is that there is a tremendous amount of talent on both sides of the ball, so Saturday’s game between LSU football and Florida will be a good one.
