Hey everyone, I’m Nate Thomas, a sophomore sports media and communications and broadcasting double-major at the University of Nebraska. I am very excited to be joining Deceptive Speed to cover Creighton basketball this winter.
I am from Omaha, Nebraska and fell in love with the Bluejays at a young age. I grew up watching Doug McDermott and the transition to the Big East in 2013. My favorite Creighton games were 2016 when they beat then ninth-ranked Wisconsin at home in the first week of the season and their win against Seton Hall to win the Big East regular season title in 2020.
My dream has always been to become a sportscaster ever since I met Kevin Kugler of Fox Sports in middle school. I was fascinated by what he had become, especially him being from Nebraska. As someone who is not athletic but loves sports, joining the media industry was a way to have a career in sports.
