Welcome!
My name is Janelle Shimon, your LSU football writer for this upcoming season. Due to my strong passion for sports, I am thrilled to be writing for Deceptive Speed and I cannot wait to see what this season has in store for the Tigers. The LSU Tigers are one of my favorite college football teams, alongside the UCF Knights and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
I currently attend The University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. I’m studying Human Communications and Event Management, and I am an aspiring sports journalist. I grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Go Steelers!), where everything seemed to revolve around high school football. I discovered my love for football after several years of cheerleading on the sidelines every Friday night.
After high school, and before transferring to UCF, I attended Brooklyn College in New York City where I studied Broadcast Journalism. I was fortunate enough to work with many different talk shows around the city: Live with Kelly and Ryan, Good Morning America and the Today Show. While this was an experience of a lifetime, I missed out on all things college football, which is why I packed my bags and transferred to The University of Central Florida.
Football season is right around the corner and while things may seem different this year, I cannot wait to see how this season plays out. I’m just hoping and praying that LSU gets to kick off their first game against Mississippi State on Sept. 26!
