Ohio Valley tournament gambling preview

Deceptive Speed will break down every single conference tournament from a gambling perspective the day each tourney starts. You’ve lost quite a bit of money this month in the past whether it’s food, drinks, gambling or bracket pools. The goal for 2020 is to make you some money in March for the first time in your entire life.

We are one day into the conference tournament season. Next up, it’s the Ohio Valley tournament. Let’s eat.

The Bracket

The Bracketology

Deceptive Speed Bracketology has Belmont receiving the automatic bid with a #14 seed.

The Odds

Belmont -150
Murray State +225
Austin Peay +550
Eastern Illinois +2000
Eastern Kentucky/Jacksonville State/Morehead State/Tennessee State +4000

The Suck

The Ohio Valley tournament features an equal amount of suck on the bottom with Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Morehead State and Tennessee State. Put a quick 10 spot on any of these teams would net you $400. Tennessee Tech, UT-Martin, SIU-Edwardsville and Southeast Missouri State couldn’t quite make it into the top 8 to participate in the tournament. Nothing but high standards in the Ohio Valley.

The Bet

Belmont and Murray State are very evenly-matched teams coming in at 15-3 in conference play. Belmont is on a 10-game winning streak, but the two split their two-game series in the regular season. Belmont is scoring 80 points per game to lead the conference, while Murray State’s defense is averaging 64.4 for the best in the Ohio Valley.

The +225 vs. -150 value is way too big for teams that are so similar, so I’ll be investing in the Ja Morant-less Murray State Racers.
