Welcome to Crash the Board, our daily look at college basketball’s biggest games from a sports betting perspective with a guaranteed winner. Our daily goal is to make you rich, make your children love you and keep your wife from leaving you. That’s a Crash the Board guarantee.
I’m still not over us being robbed of daytime college hoops on Monday morning/afternoon, and today isn’t much different with the first game tipping off at 3:30 CST. We need wall-to-wall action every single day during Championship Week from 11 a.m. till after midnight. Not being able to lose money college basketball betting till it’s dark out is something that needs to be fixed.
I don’t know how I can help, but I’d love to be part of the solution.
Last night’s Payday bet went against us, which is disappointing. BYU crushed all of our hopes and dreams in a game that ended early Tuesday morning. My Cougars failed to cover against St. Mary’s and didn’t even win. That’s OK because BYU will be my 6 seed to make the Sweet 16. You heard it here first. Unless you’ve already heard it from somebody else, in which case you heard it here last.
We’ve got plenty of winners tonight as we’ve for FIVE conference championships to get to with the Tuesday Payday as our guaranteed winner. BYU failed us last night, but we’ll get back on track in a few hours.
UIC vs. Northern Kentucky
NKU -4
O/U 129
ESPN, 6:00 CST
Winner take all in the Horizon League! We called yesterday’s upset for UIC over Wright State as the Horizon League continues to punish its best teams with its tournament format. Northern Kentucky made it through as the 2 seed and UIC in the #4 spot. The season series between these 2 teams is wild as both hammered the other on the road. UIC won 73-43 on Northern Kentucky’s home floor a few weeks ago. The hell is that?
UIC is on an absolute tear right now, winning 6 of its last 7, while Northern Kentucky is 2-4 in its last 6 against the spread. Both teams hit the under frequently with UIC games going under in 15 of its last 20 and Northern Kentucky in 4 of its last 5. Both are very good against the spread away from home, so these are incredibly even teams. I just may invest in UIC with the points.
St. Francis (PA) vs. Robert Morris
SFU -1.5
O/U 142.5
ESPN2, 6:00 CST
Robert Morris is the #1 seed, and St. Francis (PA) enters as the 2 seed. Thanks to Merrimack being ineligible for the postseason, we’ve got ourselves a 1 vs. 2 matchup to win the Northeast Conference tournament with the winner likely earning a 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The two split their season series with the home team winning both.
St. Francis is 10-1 in its last 11 games against Robert Morris and is 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 games overall. This is a home game for Bobby Morris where they are 11-3 on the season, but St. Francis is 11-4 against the spread away from home.
Northeastern vs. Hofstra
HOF -1.5
O/U 134.5
CBSSN, 6:00 CST
Hofstra got itself some help as the top-seeded team in the CAA with Northeastern reaching the final game as a #6 seed. And HOLY HELL is Hofstra incredible at covering spreads. They’re 24-8 against the number this season and 11-1 in its last 12. If good teams win and great teams cover, this might be the greatest team in college basketball this year.
Saint Mary’s vs. #2 Gonzaga
GU -9
O/U 143.5
ESPN, 8:00 CST
Gonzaga did not take care of business last night like I instructed them to, but it’s a new day. I’m not sure how it’s possible, but Gonzaga and St. Mary’s play for the West Coast title every single year. I will NOT look it up to be proven wrong, but it’s Gonzaga-St. Mary’s conference title: Part 76. I’ll take the team gunning for a #1 seed.
North Dakota vs. North Dakota State
NDSU -6
O/U 137
ESPN2, 8:00 CST
In-state battle for the Summit League title. North Dakota State is 11-1 straight up in its last 12 games going up against another 6 seed that made its way into the conference championship. I like the Bison and I like them by a lot.
Tuesday Payday
I’m confident in the picks above, but there’s one investment opportunity I like even more, and that is North Carolina -4 vs. Virginia Tech. Look, the Tar Heels displayed some major suckiness this season. As Homer Simpson once said, “I’ve seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks who ever sucked.”
Well said, Homer. Very accurate.
A preseason national title contender now stands as the #14 seed, last place in the ACC, and Roy Williams appears to be the most miserable human on the planet. Having said all that, close your eyes picture North Carolina losing to Virginia Tech on the first day of the ACC Tournament. It doesn’t look right, it doesn’t feel right, and it ain’t right. Tar Heels will win this one, and they’re going to cover. North Carolina is playing better, covering 4 of its last 6, while the Hokies are 2-12 against the spread in their final 14 regular season games.
For as awful as a season as it’s been for North Carolina, let’s finish it on a high note, starting with a win by 5 points or more tonight. Go Heels!
