McHenry has a star rating on one of the four major recruiting sites as ESPN has him listed as a 3-star prospect. The only reported FBS scholarship offer he received came from the New Mexico Lobos according to ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals. McHenry is the lone quarterback addition to Baylor’s class of 2022 recruiting class.

Baylor is set at the quarterback position heading into the fall with starter Gerry Bohanon returning for Year 2 as the full-time starter. His backup is Blake Shapen, who proved he can be relied upon in big moments as he won three games as a starter this past season when Bohanon went down with an injury. With Shapen at quarterback, the Bears beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders to clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game and followed that with a conference title in a victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The Bears are trending in a fantastic direction going into Year 3 with Dave Aranda, who is proving to be a brilliant hire to take over Baylor. He is set at the QB position for 2022 with multiple capable options. The other quarterbacks on the roster include Kyron Jones, who was rated as a 4-star recruit by three of the four recruiting sites in the class of 2021, and CJ Rogers is in that same class as a preferred walk-on.

Baylor lost Jacob Zeno (UAB Blazers) to the transfer portal this offseason.

Looking ahead to 2023, the Bears already have a commitment from Austin Novosad, who is rated as a 3-star prospect on three of the four recruiting sites.

Baylor had a breakout season in 2021 and finished with a 12-2 record that included its first ever Big 12 Championship and capped it off with a win over the Ole Miss Rebels in the Sugar Bowl.
