Viotto is listed as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports, On3 and Rivals. In addition to Eastern Michigan, he had reported scholarship offers from the Syracuse Orange, Maryland Terrapins, Marshall Thundering Herd, Kent State Golden Flashes, Central Michigan Chippewas and Bowling Green Falcons.

It’s still early in the 2023 recruiting cycle, but this would be a significant addition for Eastern Michigan if he stick with the Eagles especially considering Viotto has offers from Power 5 programs.

Eastern Michigan has been busy in the transfer portal when it comes to the quarterback position as the Eagles brought in Taylor Powell from the Troy Trojans in addition to Cam’Rom McCoy, who is also expected to play for the baseball team. Eastern Michigan lost last year’s starter Ben Bryant back to the Cincinnati Bearcats, and the 2021 backup QB Preston Hutchinson left for UT Chattanooga.

Powell started his college football career with the Missouri Tigers and played in eight games with five starts for Troy last season. He should have the inside track to be the starter this fall as the lone quarterback on the roster who has attempted a pass at the college level.

The Eagles are coming off a 7-6 season in 2021 capped off by a loss in the LendingTree Bowl as they head into Year 9 with Chris Creighton as the head coach.

Drew Viotto attends Walled Lake Western High School in Walled Lake, Michigan.
