Illingworth spent the last two seasons at Oklahoma State and made three starts with the Cowboys. He completed 69 of 120 (57.5%) passes for 939 yards with 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He did not appear to be making much ground in taking Spencer Sanders out of the Cowboys’ starting quarterback spot, and Illingworth should be in the mix to be the guy at Nevada this fall.

The Wolf Pack will need to replace Carson Strong, who is getting ready for the NFL Draft. Nate Cox was the backup quarterback in 2021, and the other scholarship QBs on the roster include Drew Scolari and Nate Barlage in addition to AJ Bianco, who is a part of the 2022 recruiting class.

Nevada lost Clay Millen to the transfer portal, and he has since committed to the Colorado State Rams.

The Wolf Pack finished with an 8-5 record, capped off by a loss to the Western Michigan Broncos in the Quick Lane Bowl. Nevada will enter a new era with Ken Wilson heading into his first season as a head coach, replacing Jay Norvell, who left to take the head coaching job at Colorado State. Wilson was the co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach for the Oregon Ducks during the 2021 season.

Out of the class of 2020, Shane Illingworth was a 4-star recruit on Rivals and ESPN, while 247Sports gave him a 3-star rating out of Norco High School in Norco, California.
