Kavanagh does not have a profile on any of the four major recruiting sites and will join 3-star Adryan Lara as the two quarterback prospects in Kansas State’s 2022 class. Kavanagh’s father Brian played QB for the Wildcats in the 1990s. The Wildcats also added former Nebraska Cornhuskers starting quarterback Adrian Martinez to their roster this offseason through the transfer portal.

It would be a pretty big shock if Martinez is not Kansas State’s starting quarterback to replace Skylar Thompson this fall. Martinez after being a starter for four seasons at Nebraska, and his backup is likely to be Will Howard, who started three games in 2021 while Thompson recovered from injury.

Jaren Lewis is the only quarterback on the roster who attempted a pass last season, but class of 2021 signee Jake Rubley could make a move up the depth chart as a QB who was rated as high as 4 stars from the major recruiting sites.

Kansas State is heading into Year 4 with Chris Klieman in charge, and the Wildcats are coming off an 8-5 overall record last season including 4-5 in Big 12 play, capped off by a win over the LSU Tigers in the Texas Bowl.

Parker Kavanagh attends Salina Central High School in Salina, Kansas.
