Since Gagg was already operating as a tight end, this won’t have much of an impact on the East Carolina quarterback room. Holton Ahlers took over the starting QB position midway through 2018 and has held the position ever since. Over the last four seasons, he completed 58.5% of his passes for 10,225 yards with 69 touchdowns and 32 interceptions.
Mike Houston will enter Year 4 with as the head coach of East Carolina coming off a 7-5 overall record. The Pirates became eligible for a bowl game for the first time since 2014, but their Military Bowl matchup with the Boston College Eagles was canceled.
East Carolina was Gagg’s only reported FBS offer out of Braden River High School in Bradenton, Florida.
