McCall underwent surgery in January and has remained as loyal as can be to the Chanticleers and opted to return for another season despite being an NFL Draft prospect. When he announced his intention to come back for another college football season in December, his Twitter post ended with, “When I say I piss teal, I mean it.”
McCall played in 11 games last season and completed 73% of his passes for 2,873 yards with 27 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He also rushed for 290 yards with 4 additional scores on the ground. In 2022, he will be without a pair of talented pass catchers with tight end Isaiah Likely and wide receiver Jaivon Heiligh as both are preparing for the NFL.
Without McCall on the field during spring ball, Bryce Carpenter and Jarrett Guest should see plenty of valuable reps at quarterback.
Coastal Carolina has a 22-3 record over the last two seasons and finished 11-2 last year capped off by a victory over the Northern Illinois Huskies in the Cure Bowl.
McCall was rated no higher than a 2-star prospect out of the major recruiting sites from Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
