Dart played in six games for USC last season as a true freshman including three starts as he and Kedon Slovis saw the field quite a bit. Dart completed 61.9% of his passes for 1,353 yards with 9 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He will be the favorite to start for Ole Miss in Week 1 as Lane Kiffin found his replacement for Matt Corral, who is off to the NFL after a college career as a three-year starter for the Rebels.
This announcement continued Ole Miss’ dominance in the transfer portal the Rebels also brought in key additions with tight end Michael Trigg, who was Dart’s teammate at USC. Ole Miss has officially added 11 players from the portal including seven 4-star players according to 247Sports, and Dart is the first 5-star addition to the roster.
Ole Miss will have a ton of new pieces to its offense because in addition to bringing in Dart and a few talented skill position players, the Rebels brought in Charlie Weis Jr. from the USF Bulls to be the offensive coordinator. He will replace Jeff Lebby, who left for a job with the Oklahoma Sooners.
Ole Miss won 10 games in Kiffin’s second season with the program in 2021, but Corral’s college career ended with an injury suffered early in a Sugar Bowl loss to the Baylor Bears. Luke Altmyer came on in relief for the Rebels in his first extended action as a college quarterback.
Dart will join Altmyer and Kinkead Dent as the three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, and Ole Miss is among the favorites to land 2023 quarterback Arch Manning.
